Gartner Group once reported that 50% of the architecture functions that exist in January of a given year will be discontinued before the year's end, only to be reconstituted in another 18 months.  Architecture teams loose focus, fail to deliver value, and become isolated from the very consumers they ought to support (Ivory Tower Syndrom).

Here I try to layout some lessons learned from managing an Architecture Team for over ten years in a dynamic company that grew organically and through acquisition - at times doubling over night.  I'll be updating the section, but as a starter, here are some thoughts around the Architecture Review Board.
